An investigation is underway after a video on social media showed a young man touching a sleeping wild elephant in the Ranajayapura area of Anuradhapura.
In the video, one of the three youths carefully approaches the sleeping elephant, touches it, and then slowly retreats.
They recorded this as an adventure activity, claiming they did not zoom in to avoid making it look fake. Their aim was to show how to get close to a wild elephant.
The Wild Life has warned people not to try such risky activities after watching the video.
