Sri Lanka Head Coach Chris Silverwood will step down from his role after the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, as his contract is unlikely to be renewed following Sri Lanka’s early exit from the tournament.

Additionally, there are reports that skipper Wanindu Hasaranga is contemplating resignation after the tournament. Kusal Mendis, current Sri Lanka One-Day International (ODI) Captain, is expected to replace Hasaranga for Sri Lanka’s upcoming international T20 series against India in July.

India, however, is expected to field a second-string team for the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka, with senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli unlikely to participate.

Sanath Jayasuriya will assume a significant role in Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) both internationally and domestically.

Sports Minister Harin Fernando recently emphasized the infusion of young talent into Sri Lanka’s limited-over squads, putting pressure on national selectors led by Upul Tharanga to include younger players.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Team Manager Mahinda Halangoda’s position is also uncertain following Sri Lanka’s disappointing performance in the World Cup held in the US.”
