President proposes select committee to review Supreme Court’s gender equality bill ruling

President Ranil Wickremesinghe recently addressed Parliament, raising a point of order and proposing the formation of a Select Committee to examine the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Gender Equality Bill.

He expressed concern that the Supreme Court’s decision challenges women’s rights and the preservation of Buddhism.
