Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara highlighted that President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Members of Parliament embraced the formidable challenge of preventing deaths during the country’s collapse.
He conveyed these thoughts during his participation in the ‘Smart Youth Club’ program at the ‘Ampara’ event today.
“In times of national advancement, it’s crucial to study figures like Che and Lenin, and ideologies such as liberalism and Marxism. This broadens our understanding of what’s right. Some may shift their perspectives after reading works like ‘Das Kapital’, but true comprehension of the world requires a diverse range of perspectives – left, right, north, and south,” he remarked.
“Our nation faced regression and tragedy, with lives lost in queues. To halt this suffering, we must embody true revolutionary spirit. President Ranil Wickremesinghe and parliamentarians courageously took on this responsibility, acknowledging the people’s pain. Genuine revolutionaries stood up for their fellow citizens. Yet, what of those who stood by as people perished, claiming they would rescue the nation, yet did nothing to aid? Can they truly call themselves revolutionaries? Do they genuinely care for the people?” Minister Nanayakkara challenged.
“Those responsible for economic turmoil brand Elon Musk as an economic hitman. Today, as we move from history to a future shaped by visionary figures like Elon Musk, we are investing in grassroots education to empower our youth as capable leaders,” the Minister concluded.
