Funeral Parlour Receives Threat Over ‘Club Wasantha’s’ Remains: Security Boosted
Security has been increased at a prominent funeral parlour in Colombo where the remains of Surendra Wasantha Perera, also known as ‘Club Wasantha,’ are kept.
This move follows an unverified phone threat regarding the parlour’s decision to house Club Wasantha’s remains.
In addition, special checkpoints have been established across Mannar in response to intelligence reports suggesting that the suspects involved in the Athurugiriya shooting may attempt to flee to India via fishing boats.
Authorities have alerted airports and other key points to prevent the suspects from leaving the country. Multiple checkposts and roadblocks have been set up in Mannar due to the heightened escape risk.
Law enforcement is closely monitoring individuals boarding fishing boats from Mannar, especially those without valid fishing ID cards, to prevent unauthorized sea travel.
