The prevailing windy conditions over the island are expected to continue further today due to the active south-west monsoonal condition, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said.
They said showers would occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and north-western provinces, as well as in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy showers of about 75 mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Strong winds of about 60 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, in the northern, north-central, and north-western provinces, and in Trincomalee, Monaragala, and Hambantota districts.
Strong winds of about 40 kmph can be expected at times elsewhere on the island.
