Education Minister Susil Premajayantha announced that issues in the teaching profession are being reviewed and resolved, making it possible to grant salary increments without delay.
Addressing the media at the Presidential Media Centre yesterday (22), he stated that the increments will be granted after sending the relevant letters to the provincial authorities and receiving the order letters by next Wednesday, as agreed by the Secretary of the Public Service Commission.
Despite economic difficulties, the government has managed to address the teacher shortage by providing 16,000 teacher appointments at national and provincial levels.
