The six-month-old lion cub, rejected by its mother, was named today at an event celebrating the 88th anniversary of the Dehiwala Zoological Department.
The cub was named ‘Haider’ by the Director General of Dehiwala Zoological Gardens, M.S.L.R.D. Marasinghe. He mentioned that two children had chosen the name Haider for the cub. The lion cub was born at Ridiyagama Safari Park.
