Supreme Court blocks Deshabandu from acting as IGP

The Supreme Court issued an interim order today preventing Deshabandu Tennakoon from functioning as the Inspector General of Police. This order is effective until the final determination of nine Fundamental Rights petitions challenging his appointment.

The three-judge bench, comprising Justice Yasantha Kodagoda, Justice Achala Wengappuli, and Justice Mahinda Samayawardena, issued this order during the hearing of the petitions.
